As a South Florida native, Theo Black has been shaped by the distinctive Miami music scene where it’s common to hear local rock bands, Latin singers, and DJ sets melt together in the night air walking between clubs. Mixing his DIY indie roots from his days in The Supplements with darkwave and 70’s folk influences, Black aims to combine the music he loves into one singular sound.
Black’s debut EP Last Year, Last Nite is the blueprint for what’s to come. A collection of four disparate tracks that serve as a stylistic sampler of sorts. From the finger-picked acoustic guitar on New Year's Eve to the unpolished indie rock of What's It For? and the synth-lead Girls On The Internet, these tracks were assembled from old demos to serve as the mission statement for this project’s future.
His latest single, Curtains, released Black Friday diving fully into the electronic side of this project’s sound. A mix of analog and digital synths and drum machines which serve as the foundation for a melodic, though distorted, vocal.
The guitars wait in the wings for January’s upcoming single: Follow The Money.
In addition to making music, Theo Black loves writing pretentious bios about himself in the third person.
Love, TB
